Extremely sad news from One Life to Live. Both Clint Ritchie, Clint, and Phil Carey, Asa, have passed away. Both within 1 week of each other.
Clint suffered a heart attack in January. He underwent surgery for a pacemaker and died in his sleep 10 hours later from a blood clot on January 31. He was 70. Clint was the original Clint Buchanan on OLTL for 20 years. He retired in 1998 and made several guest appearances since then. He was eventually replaced by Jerry Ver Dorn. Jerry does a good job, but Clint will always be Clint Buchanan to me.
No word as to Phil's official cause of death on February 6, but in 2006 he was diagnosed with lung cancer. For 28 years Phil played Asa Buchanan until 2007 when TIIC wouldn't renew his contract. Phil didn't want to be recurring, so Asa was killed off. The show did come to their senses a little and brought Phil back in 2008 in appearances where he was reading his will. Phil was 83.
Very sad. Clint and Phil will be missed.
