TVGuide.com has the scoop on what went down between TIIC at As The World Turns and Martha Byrne. Apparently Martha wanted to put in her contract "that I would work the same amount of days this year that I did last year.", but TIIC didn't want to put it in. Not exactly much of a demand. It sure makes ATWT look bad. Losing their top actress who's played the same role for 21 years is not a good move.
The role of Lily that Martha played has also been recast very fast. Seems like a big slap in the face to Martha. Dedicate a good part of your life to the show, things go bad and the next day you're replaced. Where's the appreciation for Martha's dedication?
Anyways, it was announced that Noelle Beck will take over the role of Lily on As The World Turns.
Noelle is best known for her role as Trisha Alden on Loving. Trisha & Trucker were the hot couple of Loving back in the day. It will be good to see Noelle back in daytime though. Too bad it's such a tough role, being a recast for an actress who has played the same character for 21 years. Recasts like that don't usually turn out very well. Noelle is a good actress who was loved by fans, so we'll see how it goes. Anyways, good luck to both Noelle and Martha.
